The current time frame for role playing in the Federation-Klingon Alliance (FKA) is approx. 35 years in the future after the time frame of the Next Generation series. The rift between the Federation and Klingon Empire caused by Gowron has been healed. About 15 years ago the Alliance was formed and now the Federation and Klingon Empire is one small step away from Political unity. We are NOT a member of the United Federation of Planets, like the Vulcans, Andorians and Betazed. The Imperial Klingon Empire has very definite boarders and the Planets within those boarders are subject to Klingon law. The FKA is similar to a United Nations. Two distinct and soveriegn Political entities that funtion as one for all intents and purposes. The UFP and Klingon Empire are now collectively refered to as the FKA. Each entity has it's own set of laws and the other entity respects them. There is a "Free trade agreement" and an "Open boarder policy". There are also "Mutual defense treaties" and "Scientific exchange assurences" which help to insure Economic and Cultural interaction. The Federation Council and Klingon High Council are still the ruling bodies of their respective governments but they are abstract organizations. For the purposes of the FKA universe the FKA Council is the supreme Military High command for all Vessels and personel in the FKA. To serve the Empire you must serve the Alliance. During the last five years or so the Romulan Star Empire has been granted "Co-Existance" Status. It is Expressly against the Laws of the FKA for Klingon and Romulan Vessels, that are members of the FKA, to attack each other. There are still enough "Privateer" Vessels in both the Klingon and Romulan Empires though to provide many prizes and much Glory to Skilled Commanders serving in the FKA.
